What
is an IP Address?

An IP (Internet Protocol Address) is a
string of numbers which look like (192.168.0.1) that identifies each
computer on a network.
When you connect to the Internet, or a Local Area Network, your
computer is assigned an IP Address. An IP Address can be Internal, for
use on a Local Area Network, or External, for use on the Internet or a
Wide Area Network. The IP Address can be Static, meaning it never
changes, or Dynamic, which means each time you logon, your computer is
assigned a new IP address for that session. |
